I am soo sorry, that seems so sad to have that happen to a rat...but of course i love rats so i will always feel sorry if anything happens to one, my rats are growing normally, i will watch out for my blazed though because she is normal, but i jut hope that she stays that way because i saw that SatanicIntention said that it pops up in blazed, but she is not high white so i think it will be okay.

Beth, if your little girl were to have megacolon, the disease would have already reared its ugly head. The bloating, diarrhea, stunted growth and all of that mess is usually seen either within the first 2 weeks of life, or is seen after the baby is weaned. Your girl is a few months old I believe and is just gorgeous. She has a nice hair coat from what I've seen and very good weight. You're doing a good job with the two you have :)

Because your mom is breeding hoodeds(beige, black and agouti) and solids, the risk for megacolon is really zero. Sometimes neat markings, such as your wedge-blazed berkshire girl, pop up unexpectedly. I believe all of the lines ya'll are working with are very healthy from all of the babies I've seen your mom's female rats pop out. If MC does pop up, since your mom is very meticulous about keeping records about who breeds who and who had which babies, I don't think you have to worry about megacolon getting into your breeding lines.

    Hope that helped :)
