    Yeah rex is a co-dom trait. Double rex (homozygous) are sometimes called mock hairless. Not actually as nice as a feeder as a full haired rat.. plus that they seem to grow slower because they spend more energy keeping warm.

    Thanks for that info April. I'll avoid crossing any Rex offspring to other Rex's then as the whole point is the raise nice feeders or the occasional pretty pet rat. I'd read the rex x rex tends to look sort of "mangy" so not much point in producing that.

    Yeah they're not so cute.

    Sometimes you will get surprises in rat breeding. I bred two fully haired rats that apparently both carried the recessive gene for hairless, because three of the babies are naked!
