Well, when you have 250+ ball pythons and your regular rodent supplier comes up short, you have no choice but to go to PetCos after you're done buying out all of the "local" pet stores. ;)

Sure it's more expensive, but the snakes gotta eat. ;) :P

The Petco nearest me isn't all that bad, in the Reptile dept. they have people who actually own herps, so they're not incompetent, but I wouldn't buy my mice there, like 40-50 to an uncleaned cage, bleh. Local store like down the block from my house takes excellent care of their mice, and sells each for like $.80 :D

The Petco by me isn't too bad, but I don't buy mice there. There is a reptile swap near me twice a month that has them cheaper.

The mice at my local petco are all kept in very clean cages, and I don't think I've ever seen more than 2 or 3 to a cage at one time. But if you do want to buy them for feeders, you'll basically end up shelling out $4 for one little mouse, and around $5 - 6 for a rat.

Petco; I have mixed feelings on them. Their rodents, at least at the one in Buffalo I go to sometimes, are in excellent conditions; carefresh bedding, full water and feed containers, etc. But their BPs and other snakes are still in \ shameful, shed-retaining conditions. I don't shop there anymore because of these things, but also I have a better local resource; my friend owns a pet store. :) But I breed my rats anyway at home.

LOL ... PetCo or not, I shriek every week buying feeders for 250+ snakes. At least it's deductible. ;)

My motto with feeders (and tomatoes) is "Grow Your Own" lol. But it might be tough for that many snakes, I guess..

Keeping a rodent colony to produce that many rats a week would be another full time job on top of the two I have already ... No thanks! .... LOL
