no the tub itself is clear but the lid is white and not see-through.

You will have plently of light with that tub just from the room lights...

but i have her in my room which has no windows and when i am not in there the light is off. should i find a way to tip a light sideways so it shines in or do i need a clear top?

Sounds like a winner to me:)

i found a small piece of plexiglass that is big enough to fit the light on. i cut a hole out of the plastic lid and duct taped the plexiglass on, so now the light will easily shine through!

You do realise just turning your lamp on in your room is so much easier right?
