ddbjdealer - good point. :P I should have said 'for entire natural life expectancy'

Rats do make awesome pets. I started with pet rats before feeder rats.

And yes, people do get rid of dogs when they are no longer cute puppies.. I unfortunately see this happen since I'm a dog groomer. It sucks.

HA! I've got this stupid little neon tetra all on it's lonesome in a tank that I want to get rid of. It just won't die!! All it's buddies kicked the bucket awhile ago. But I'll keep the tank running until that fish has lived out it's life. (which seems like forever!)

Well I'll confess when I wanted to clear out a tank of small fishies.. they turned into feeder fish for Mr Whiskers my 9" bullhead catfish. Big fishy liked that. :D

That's precisely what our grandma thinks we should do with Emily :( - in fact I think she really believes that! She hates snakes and thinks that when Emily gets big she'll constrict and kill us all

Have you ever set down and talked to her and let her know the truth about your snake? Sometimes when someone is misinformed about reptiles they believe everything they hear. Now dont try to force your grandma to handle your snake or yell if she says something that might upset you.Try to get her to read the info here with you sometime:) .If she still refuses to hear or read up on reptiles just say "thank you anyway grandma maybe you can look at some sites with me at another time".She might come and ask you sometime if you want to show her some of the reptile sites you are a member of :D .I hope this helps you

Tried that :) - must admit she's better than what she was - the first time I came into the room with the snake she shot off that chair across to the far side the room as far as she could get - she moved so fast you wouldn't believe she was 90 :D. Now she will stay in her chair and I can even sit next to her (with snake) at the other end of our 3-seater sofa and she'll stay there.

I'm busy educating my colleagues today - I had a (since canceled by vet) appointment so needed to bring her into work with me. Two colleagues have taken me up on my offer to stroke her and were quite enthralled by the fact she wasn't slimy and wouldn't attack :D I'm now waiting on a 3rd who is definitely snake-phobic - she says she's going to come up and look but doesn't promise to touch.
