how old is your snake? i'm just wondering cause if it's just a baby, does it really need two mice in one feeding? isn't that the same as 'powerfeeding'?

dexter was hatched on sept 28, 2005 - he's 26" and just over 1.5" at his widest girth... (don't know his weight sorry) - and he takes one large mouse a week.

my opinion of power feeding is feeding way too much too frequently. like a couple of rodents every day or every other day(3-4 times a week). i think snakes need time to digest their food. i don't think multiple rodents fed on the same day is "power feeding" if you're only feeding once a week. i look at snakes 0-2yrs old like kids/teens, they are in a growing stage and a couple of rats isn't going to hurt them, provided they have the proper time to digest in between meals. in reality i think alot of snakes would be fine if we only fed them once or twice a month but it is "us" that want them to grow faster and get bigger quicker. i know i'm guilty of this.

I'm sure that it doesn't NEED to eat more than once a month or maybe even 3 or 4 times a year, but would it be unhealthy? I haven't seen any evidence of any of my animals being unhealthy, and they all get multiples on feeding day.
