Re: What is your source of heating?
well I am waiting on both my AP T3 cage and all my heating stuff coming from Matt. But I am going to be putting 11" flexwatt on half of the T3 cage on one side, then on the other side I am going to have a 150 watt ceramic heat bulb sitting in one of the two 8.5" screen cutouts on the top of the cage. I plan on keeping the flexwatt side at 82-85 degrees and then keeping the ceramic heat lamp side at 92-95 degrees... or should it be the opposite? I am getting 2 Johnson thermostats, one to control the flexwatt and one to control the ceramic heat bulb.
I was afraid that ONLY the flexwatt would NOT be enough to heat the cage properly because I keep my house pretty cool, between 62-65 degrees during the winter. (heating bills are too expensive, lol)
Now I am just concerned that by using the ceramic heat bulb I will NOT be able to keep my humidity levels up in the 60% range. My room humidity levels are between 35-45% during the winter and during the summer they are in the 45-60% range. I am also using "Aspen" shavings for substrate.
Then for lighting in the cage so I can see my little guy I choose to get a 8.5" bulb shade and will be putting a 30 watt compact (ciruclar) flourescent bulb in there. I hope these compact flourescent bulbs DON'T give off heat like a regular incadescent bulb does. I will be putting this bulb in the other 8.5" cutout OVER the flexwatt heated side, hopefully this will provide enough light to light up the entire cage well. I didn't want to put a tube flourescent light INSIDE the cage because I don't like electronics inside the snake cage, plus I would have to reach inside the cage to turn the light on and off.
any suggestions of what I should do different I am all ears! but that's what my heating setup is looking like so far anyways.
Re: What is your source of heating?
A radiant heat panel in the T3 would be a better option than the CHE's ... my personal preference ... I've gotten burns from CHE's in the past and hate those things ... plus a radiant heat panel will be a lot easier on the humidity than the CHE's.
Just a thought.

yeah what particular radiant heat panels are you talking about? and where do you put them in the cage?

Pro-Heat radiant heat panels from Pro-Products ... www.pro-products.com
They mount inside the cage on the ceiling and are perfectly safe to the touch unlike CHE's and they don't dry out the air as much as bulbs or CHE's. Many moons ago before I housed my snakes in racks and kept other species of snakes, I used them exclusively and they were AWESOME!

Re: What is your source of heating?
Does the pro-products attach to an AP T3 cage or would I have to mount it in there somehow? Also, how much do they cost? Any info would be appreciated.

Re: What is your source of heating?
I use CHE - I've always been used to them from keeping lizards. Our CHE has a wire box on it so snake can't get at the bulb itself and burn.
Humidity is always a thing though - I always have a humid hide and spray to keep the humidity levels as I want them.
I would have trouble keeping the ambient temp right (until I have my Herp Room :D ) without CHE.
I'm wondering whether it would be good to turn down CHE temp so it can emit the ambient heat and putting a mat on for the warm end.
Re: What is your source of heating?
Ya i also use a space heater for the room temp and a UTH for the hot side of the tank.

You have to drill it into the top of the cage. It's very easy to do. They vary in cost, for my T3, mine was $79.00. As I was directed by Adam some time ago, contact Pro-Products (Bob Pound) and give him the specs of the enclosure. He'll then recommend a panel for you.
Hope that helps.
