Update after further tweaking the temperatures, I think maybe the closest to ideal I could get is 91-92F for the warm hide surface temperature, with an 87-88F ambient temperature. With the warm side at these temperatures, the cool side ambient and surfaces range from 77-82F. The ceiling of the cool hide is 82F (seems like the hide material absorbs heat) and the bedding under the cool hide is 77F, while the ambient is around 80F.

I'd give it a try. I would expect it to take a while for a heat mat to warm through pvc sheet, but, once it had, the heat mat should be able to maintain the temp.
