Thanks for the reassurance and really appreciate the time and effort everyone put in with answering my questions.
I agree, it would be more ideal to have that ambient throughout the tub be 80 and as soon as I finish the basement, I'll have a dedicated room which will keep my anxiety much lower lol.

I still think, even with the back heat, that your temps are too low. Even if your snakes don't get sick, I'm concerned that they will spend all their time holed up in their hides. On the other hand, you are keeping a close eye on them, and I'm sure that, if problems arise, you'll address it promptly. Welcome back to the hobby!
The person that said that I dont think had the whole story. They were envisioning a room where I rarely check on them so if the temp controller malfunctions they probably thought I would not be checking on the snakes for day thus causing great harm. So I don't think they had all the context like you guys did and had they had it all I think they would have maybe had a different statement.
