I'm Hoping thats a rodent rack? Looks nice so far. But they will get out. If you are puting balls in there I'd get rid of the screen..

    How will they get out?

The screen has 3/8" by 3/8" squares, is stapled every 2 inches on each board, and there is only a 3/16" gap between the tub and each top for ease of sliding and any possible settlement. I have seen the same net used on some of EbN's racks (which I somewhat based my design off of) and Sean did not mention any escape problems when we talked about them.

If I missed something in the design, please let me know what it is so that I can take measures to ensure that an escape does not happen.

Daniel, It's those thin Sterilite bins. They chew through them like they are Bubblegum...Any bin with a ledge is easy for them to chew a hole in..

yep it is for snakes ;) The only worry that I had about the net was the increased air flow that it allows, which may make keeping ambient air temps and humidity difficult but I plan to set up the entire rack with heating first to let me see where I stand. If temps and humidity are horrible, I might consider taking it apart and going with something else but my snakes stay in a closet so the air temp and humidity are easily controled with a humidifier and heater.

I never even knew of this netting until I had seen it on EbN's racks. I had planed on using coated pegboard or 1/4" plywood with drilled holes but the net appeared like it worked well so if figured why not give it a shot.

And I definately agree that mice or rats will chew right through the side of a sterilite tub...all they need is the slightest edge and thats the end of it...I got the pleasure of finding that out first hand.....luckily I have a house cat that is a mouse hunting machine ;)

Looking good Daniel. I can't make fudge, but you could come to NYC, see the sights, build me a rack and i'll be your best friend. What an offer!!

Hey, My bad! Just trying to help lol. There is no rubbing problem with the netting? I thought it was wire.

Thanks for the help....you had me worried for a second ;) Rubbing was something else that I was thinking might be a possible problem. The plastic mesh is kinda smooth....but it might be a problem if I get a snake that is constantly rubbing. Like I said, Sean did not mention any problems when I chatted to him. But that does not mean that there won't be, I guess I will just have to see and be prepared to deal with a problem if it arises. I will let everyone know how it works out for future reference.

Now the only problem is getting the rest of the materials that I need....the good lumber supplier in town was closed today....:frustrate
