Re: Honey and constipation?
I have a 7:15 vet appointment tonight for her. I decided with the holidays coming up, I better get her seen Incase something happens in the next week. This was the only appointment they had available and are booked four weeks out. So happy I got her in. I don't want the poor girl to be in pain.

I'm so very happy to hear this (sooner rather than later)- I hope the appointment goes well & with minimal intervention needed. :gj:
Re: Honey and constipation?
I since took my girl to the vet on Wednesday. The doctor got a pretty good sized urate plug out of her. Asked if I wanted an x-ray done. We went ahead and did that. Turns out in her favor, there was a little urate left deeper in the body, but no gas pockets, no sign of infection, no sign of any injury or anything. Everything looks good besides the remaining urate. I was told to let her rest for a day or two. Then start to swim her everyday. Also told me to wait to offer food til Sunday. First day I 'swam' her she expressed a bit of urate herself. Everyday after that nothing. I did noticed where she was swollen before is back to being swollen, this shows me that the remaining urate did move down on its own. I am hoping she can get the rest out. I offered food yesterday which she refused. So I emailed my vet today (hopefully to get a next step in what he thinks is a good idea). She seems to be moving around in the enclosure much more than she had prior to the vet visit. The only thing I did not take him up on was the B12 shot. The offer expires on Wednesday. So I may be visiting again for the shot. I just wanted to give an update.

Is this a not-uncommon treatment for snakes that are 'off' in some way?
Re: Honey and constipation?
Hello everyone,
Last night I soaked her and let her swim. She let out a good amount of urate. I held her for awhile then put her in her enclosure. She crawled into her hide like she does every night. The vet even wrote me back and said he isn't concerned about her not eating at this point yet. Everything looked good on X-ray and she was expected to make a full recovering.
Fast forward to an hour ago. I went to check on her and found her passed away. I am devastated. I can't stop blaming myself and I feel horrible. These snakes live for years and I couldn't even give her 6 months. I feel so absolutely horrible. I wasn't expecting this outcome. Especially from all the positive things that were said about her health. I'm sorry I couldn't help her🥺

I'm so sorry for your loss. You did everything you could for her.

Thank you. I just can't stop crying. I feel so bad for her. I just feel since nothing showed up on x-ray and no sign of infection or anything that it was something I did. She was fine last night. I was so happy she went on her own and everything. She was fine. My poor baby🐍
