I hope you're right- they're now saying they expect this to be "at least" a category 4 hurricane, which means wind speeds of 131-155 MPH.
So what if the course changes a little at the last minute?

Not knowing how close you are to "Ida", I very much hope that you'll be alright- :please: This is a very scary storm- not your "garden variety" hurricane, & the thing is, hospitals are still overwhelmed with COVID patients, so it's a really bad time to get injured. I cringe thinking about what this will do to the whole area- both man-made structures & the natural world too- wildlife & their habitat.

I知 actually glad it shifted. Now that it shifted, I知 farther away from the storm, and on the weak side of it. I don稚 even think it will hardly any damage to where I知 at. It was more of a problem about two days ago when it was predicted to hit closer to where I知 located

That's good to hear. From my understanding while Ida is almost CAT 5 right now, it's a small, compact storm with hurricane force winds extending 50 miles from the eye. By comparison Katrina was CAT 3 when it landed but physically larger with hurricane-force winds 120 miles from the eye and a higher storm surge, which is why it was such a devastating storm.

Either way, I'm still not looking forward to seeing the mess Ida makes. :( Storm surge from Katrina was about 28', which is just :O & I sure hope the gulf coast never sees that again.

But that's not saying that Ida won't do plenty of damage & they keep mentioning how much rainfall LA has already had- how saturated the ground is also means a bigger mess.

    Y'all stay safe :please:

Yes, just very strong winds where I live. The hurricane kept moving farther east (away from me) as time went on, so by the time it hit land, it was good distance away to not even affect me losing power. All 100% okay where I知 at. Thanks for asking [emoji4]
