Hunger strike

You are off to a great start, it could be just a little more cluttered but he does have several choices of good hiding spots. Personally I love doing DIY for the more naturalistic looking stuff because it is so hard to find premade in some of the larger sizes without spending an absolute fortune. SO unless he has the rat hidden in his warm hide with him, HE ATE! I wasn't super hopeful after offering a few times and him almost completely ignoring it, but I left it on his "plate", came back a few hours later, and it's GONE. It was the weirdest feeling to go in and not see a rat still lying there. Fingers crossed he keeps this up now. Even if he doesn't, though, I'm glad he has a meal in him.

Anyway, should I continue feeding him every two weeks like I was and see how he does, or should I push it back to every three weeks?

Congratulations! :dance: Personally, I'd wait 3 weeks now, & even then he might not agree with you, lol. Wait for him to look & act hungry. :snake2: ;)

Totally forgot to reply to this, sorry. I agree and will try again in three weeks. I'll try to gauge his interest here on out and use that, combined with his weight (though I won't be weighing him until he's eaten a few times since that requires handling), to give me an idea of how often to feed.

Yay! I’m glad he finally broke his fast. BPs are the worst when it comes to taking food breaks but lots of snakes do it. They ALL eat eventually though. I hope your boy is back on track now. I agree with sticking to a 3-4 week feeding schedule until he’s eating consistently again. Best wishes.
