humidity question

Wouldn't that interfere with ventilation and airflow?

Yes it would. I don't know anyone keeping their snakes at 80% humidity, it would be a swamp in there all the time. I have a room humidifier that keeps it around 40% and the cages stay about 60+% humidity just from the water bowls, paper substrate, no misting.
