    might make a good thread that we could add too over time...anyone knowing of herp rescues doing good work & what they need?

    I don't mind sharing at all. It's the Northern California Herpetological Society (http://www.norcalherp.com/). They also maintain a wish list on Amazon, which is a handy way to donate - suggest that to your local rescues if they aren't already doing it.

    I really like your idea of a separate thread listing regional rescues that folks could donate to. My only caution is that if we do that, people should be sure that they know the group and that they make sure before they post the info that it is truly a rescue group. I've run into a couple of people who claimed to do rescue but were actually animal hoarders.

    I know, I agree. There's always that risk unfortunately, so it should be verified by people locally that really "know", before adding the rescue to the list.
