And those stick on analog thermometers are unfortunately wildly inaccurate. They can be off by as much as 15°.

Get digital thermometers with probes, or an infrared temperature gun / IR thermometer, and get surface temperatures everywhere. Two heat lamps will likely overwhelm a 20-gal tank unless your house temp is in the low-mid 60's.
