It is mostly made just for heating.
White light (of any brightness) disrupts sleep patterns...which isn't optimal for health. At the very least, get another light/fixture with a black/red or CHE bulb (CHE gives off no light at all, just heat, but if you have to
regulate it for proper temperature, I've heard they fare much better with an "on/off" thermostat; dimming them is reported to make them fail much faster). The constant use of a white light could be stressing your
snake & harming her health...she cannot express that to you, you have to assume & "read between the lines". If you wouldn't like a white light in your face all night, don't do that to a snake either. I live in a fairly
small rural town & even MY grocery store sells red & black incandescent bulbs, so while LED lights are taking over, you can still find these options. Or go to pet supply for CHE, online or in pet stores.

Also, it's important to understand the difference between thermoSTAT and thermoMETER.
METER = measures temps
STAT = regulate temps.
The infrared item you ordered it a thermoMETER, not a thermoSTAT.
The infrared temp gun is a great tool every snake keeper should have.
But you also need a thermostat connected to all heat sources.
You might as well make this ^ ^ ^ your "signature", lol...;)

In a perfect world I wouldn't need to repeat it so often, people will have done their own research before bringing an animal home.

Well...it's not a perfect world & never will be. At least they're here asking for help & trying to fix what's wrong, and I'm pretty sure that at one time or another, we've ALL made impulsive & poorly-researched choices,
and likely some with pets & human friends too.

They need heat 24/7, you can’t just turn it off at night unless it’s around 85 in the entire room!
I use heat cable on a herpstat with steel probes very close to the heating source under the tubs.
Hot spot around 93 daytime, then the herpstat is programmed to 90 hot spot at night time. Some snakes hangout on the hot spot and some of my snakes spend more time on the cooler side of the tub.
