Go with the packs from superior! ... The retail store warmers aren't worth anything ... they are ice cold within a few short hours.

Yep definitely Adam. We just got caught short here with this sudden storm blowing in and me freaking about the power going out. These little hand warmer things won't do and as well I did worry about them being small enough and warm enough to attract the snake with other ideas. You don't suppose a snake would try to eat one do you? Anyway I tied them inside socks just to be sure and they did help keep everyone warm for the short time the power was out (blankets over tubs immediately kept in trapped heat as well).

I'm ordering some decent ones just in case and looking for a new house rental far far away from this dang lake! (nice view, crappy power lines and way too many trees that seem to tip over all the time!)

You can also use bottles of hot water placed in the cage.

Even in power outages, gas stoves, fireplaces, and bbq grills can all be used to heat water. You may even have hot water in your hot water heater sitting there after you lose power.

    Works in a pinch! ;)

Good lord I never thought of small hot water bottles! What a far easier solution and my hot water tank will pump out tons of hot water or I could use my gas stove!

Thanks Adam! Why in the world didn't that simple solution come to mind *smacks forehead*
