No, I mean outside the cage. I've got heating pads on it now. They are human heat pads though. The cool side stays in the low 80's/ Sorry to worry you guys, lol!

What we are saying is that it will be very difficult to control your ambient temps using flexwatt tape as a sole heat source in a room where it gets as low as 60 degrees.

Well it's in the high 60's but I am going to get a ceramic heat edmitter for a hotspot in the tank.
Re: Finally gettin' some Flexwatt...
I'd still want to consider getting a space heater for the room. Room temps in the 60s is really asking for trouble if your heat sources were to fail in any way.
Re: Finally gettin' some Flexwatt...
We do have space heat now, it keeps the temps higher. We'll use it all winter.
Re: Finally gettin' some Flexwatt...
Yup, my temps were falling into the mid-60's last month and I was like "whoa...that's not good" and went and got a little space heater for the room. Sadly, I have the space heater set to 80 degrees, but the thing doesn't exactly keep the room to 80 like it promises, and my room is still low-mid 70's...78 at most. I could run it without the built in thermostat all the time but then the room gets to like 90. :O I'm gonna have to figure something out to get through this winter. :(
Re: Finally gettin' some Flexwatt...
just set the thermostat on the heater higher to get the achieved temps in the room.
Re: Finally gettin' some Flexwatt...
Can't, lol. The heater I bought is just a small room heater for 30 bucks that has only a handful of settings/options. It can just be on low heat, high heat, thermostat up to 65 degrees, 70 degrees, 75 degrees, or 80 degrees. I put it to 80 degrees cuz I want the room to be 80, and on that setting it only gets my room up to 75 or so. I suppose if my room was air tight with no drafts, it'd be 80 with the thermostat, but that's not the case. :( This morning I was up there and I put the heater to low heat with no thermostat, and within 10 minutes it was over 85 heading to 90 in my room. Oh well, as long as the room is around 75, it'll be fine. The cage inside is around 80-85 air temp during the day with the day lamp on for light cycle, and the air temp in the cage is around 75 at night. That should be fine for the winter. They're eating, they're pooping, they're drinking, they're shedding. Can't be too bad I suppose, lol.
Re: Finally gettin' some Flexwatt...
You need an external thermostat Cody:)
Re: Finally gettin' some Flexwatt...
Yes. Yes I do. Why didn't I think of that. Haha, thanks. I'll have to pick up a simple thermostat for it. :) Unless you feel like sending one. :P
