Im another canadian forced into this barbaric society they call america my heart bleeds for u franky we must stick together in this painful exile. but fear not i saw on south park that our royal brothers at arms are planning to sweep down and conquer america!
but seriously where in southern ontario are u from? i was born and raised in toronto (thornhill specifically) but my dad and his dad where bith born in hamilton
twooneys.....well... how can u explain twooneys???..u guyz remember when they interupted the winter olympics ( it was in Nagasaki) to make a public service announcement about them oohhhh this could be fun lets toy with them:neener:
Re: Ace's first small rat...
I also remember when Toonies first came out and they had this problem where the middles kept falling out. Apparently if you put one in a freezer, then drop it on concrete, the middle would come out. I remember making a necklace out of the outer part. Fun. ;)
Re: Ace's first small rat...
First, let me apologize to Cody for the hijacking of his thread.
For the rest of you Canadians, I just have this to say - HA!!!! Don't make me pull a Google search! With-holding information from me, how dare you??? :P
Here's what a Google search produced:
Looney (and Tooney): The Canadian one dollar coin has a picture of a loon in water, a bird known for its distinctive markings. When it was introduced in 1987 Canadians instantly dubbed the new coin the "loonie", playing on the image of a loon in water on the coin's reverse side, the nickname caught on and Canadian English gained a new word.
The Canadian two dollar coin (nick named the “toonie”) shows an adult polar bear in early summer on an ice floe. Native to northern Canada and the Arctic, the polar bear is North America’s largest land-based carnivore.
And Poutine? Well, let's just say, if you want to know how to make it, you can go Here to see how to make it. It's supposed to be delish!!!
Neener, neener, neener!!! :neener:
Re: Ace's first small rat...
LOL Dang you Robin and you're amazing googling ability. You got it right about loonies and toonies. For awhile they did consider calling the two dollar coin the "two bear" but that never caught on so loonies and toonies they are!
I remember that stuff about the toonies and people making jewellery out of them after popping out the center bit. I do miss the joy of thinking I'm broke and then finding a forgotten stash of loonies and toonies that add up to quite a haul!
I was born in Toronto (North York), raised in Lindsay, Ontario, lived as far noth in Ontario as you can get by road and lived for a time in the Yukon but mostly I'm a southern Ontario girl at heart!
Poutine.....drooooooooooooooooooooool...another thing I miss from home! Along with a decent cup of cofee and socialized medicine that is LOL.

Man that just makes me wanna head to KFC and get one of there awesome poutines. I haven't had one in forever. :(
As for hijacking the thread, no problem. I was a bit concerned about how we messed up someones thread at first, then I realized it's my thread, so all is well.
Re: Ace's first small rat...

Re: Ace's first small rat...

Re: Ace's first small rat...
back to the hi jacking....
franky u meantioned socialized medicine it's great and all (if u forget abotu almost 50% taxes in ontario) but do u know that when u slip on the "unofficail ice rink " in the school yard and blow ur chin open and knock out ur first tooth that definatly was planning to enjoy its stay in ur mouth for at least another year, that u have to wait like 2 days to actually get it properly fixed! (they did the emegerncy stuff really quick then doped me up and sat me in a hospital for 2 days fun times:headbang: !!!!!!!!)
