UGH...… the deal fell through. The house had an illegal electrical box they refused to replace. Look up Federal Pacific fuse boxes.

The house will not pass inspection with this in place.

No worries on the deal that fell through Sky. That means there's something better out there for you. Hope you find the perfect place soon!

If they refuse to replace it entirely, then they'll never sell that house (which I assume isn't their goal).

Are they just refusing to pay for the replacement costs? (Rather than refusing it being done regardless of who foots the bill)

We worked similar sorts of repairs (ones that would fail inspection without being fixed) into the deal for my house when I bought. We just adjusted who pays how much of the closing fees vs paying the repairs and arranging them. If they're protesting paying to do it, that might work out if you really like this place.

Otherwise, there will be other houses, I'm sure. Bummer to have this happen either way though.

I'd be SO HAPPY that was noticed! (I wonder how much it would cost to replace? Looks like a nice place otherwise? Might be worth making a deal?)

Is minimum 2k to replace it and update wiring. We are looking and letting them mull it over.
