That's what it often means to rescue & adopt unwanted snakes (or other animals)...there are usually issues & they are best handled by experienced keepers, or those
seriously interested in taking on the responsibility & learning along the way. It's definitely not for everyone. :snake: Or as they say, "It's a dirty job but somebody's gotta

Well, now that I'm looking at the pictures, that tail is pretty long. If this is a male, then this is a BIG male. He/she is definitely around 4.5 to 5ft long. And yes, definitely an older snake. Guess I'll have to rethink my potential names LOL I'm hoping it's a male cuz I've wanted a male forever now.
The shelter offered to pay whatever the vet visit costs if I'll drive the snake there. This is before I've had the chance to tell them that those bumps might be cysts and have to be removed and possibly remove the prolapse. Not sure how they'll feel about that yet. I think I'll just take it up to the vet and claim I had no idea lol

What was making you say female if they hadn't even identified the prolapse? You can't tail sex BPs. The big old guy I shared with the same left hemipene out would sit at about 2200g. So some males definitely get bigger with age. You can pop a ball python but probing is always the number one way I'll have him or her probe to when I take them to the vet to find out, if the prolapse doesn't get in the way. if the prolapse needs to be dealt with first then we'll do that and then we can find out the sex. it doesn't really matter to me if it's a boy or girl I just have never seen a male get that big before I've only seen smaller males so far. I do have a weighing scale and I have an index card file for each and every single one of my snakes. every time I feed them, every time they shed, what their weight is before each feeding, when they poop, when I change their water, their decor, their sunstrate, i record temps and humidy every week, anything I can think of that would add data I have put in this card system. I'm currently learning the ways of Zoological facilities and how they take care of their animals and husbandry so you could say I'm above the average Joe Schmo who walks down the street and decides they want a ball python. I'm not a beginner snake keeper if that's what you were thinking.
