But there are alot of opinions here today. Remember guys just cause someone doesn't agree with you that doesn't make them wrong.

You are correct when then opinion has facts to back it up. If it doesn't then odds are it is wrong. As far as enrichment for balls, some like multiple places to hide, they like food, they really like to mate. Best cure for a super active boy is to put him in with a girl for a day or two.

Really a shame that a simple post like this had to resort to such much animosity.

Re: Brian Barczyk's Open Forum on Snake Rack Systems
im frankly very surprised at the attitude of the forum surrounding this.

Brian - arguably the most visible person in our hobby - is attempting to start a dialogue with other heavy influencers about what it means to keep lots of snakes in an efficient way while still giving them the space and care they should get, and how this applies to layman keepers.

none of you can find a single positive in this?

and if you're worried about giving him views, you should consider that an uptick in views for this particular video will show that our hobby is paying attention, watching, and we care.

Emily (Snake Discovery) and Kenan (Kamp Kenan) are confirmed to attend. Emily alone makes me so excited for this, because, like me, she keeps her snakes in rack systems and id love to hear what she has to say.

i do not plan on ditching my racks, and i personally feel racks are amazing, which is why im eager to go and share my thoughts.

frankly i find this very disappointing.

don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

Where is the animosity? So far there is nothing but truth and honest speculation on this thread based on things that have happened in the past. I don't hate Brian, but I do understand what he is trying to do and his motivations. I do think he talks too much but that is just me. Some people obviously like him and purchase animals from him. Like or dislike the guy, the hobby would not be where it is without him. Many of my snakes are pinstripes. Without him importing the first one, I would not have them. That said, he is a businessman and is in it for the money and he has a history of spinning things to fit his narrative.

i specifically said this thread will not devolve into personal feelings about Brian...

No... But I would love to be wrong.

Taylor, I have known you for a few years on this board and have nothing but respect for you. Brian depends on the reptile business to keep his family fed, I on the other hand do not have to make a dime from my animals. This alone can account for differing perspectives. I think it would be a great thing for you to go. Keep them honest and remind them an orange is not an apple.

As for the bolded statement above. Not feelings, fact. Anytime anyone catches me posting feelings about the hobby please call me on it. I try really hard not to let how I feel about something to interfere with reality.

If I remember correctly he said every ounce of money profited by this meeting will go to charity. I don't think they're charging for admission to attend this meeting. No matter the feelings you have for the man this is an important subject that I feel needs to be put out in the open like he is trying to do. I think Kevin mccurly(sp) is also attending and possibly forest from cold blooded cafe. If nothing else it will be good education for new comers to the hobby. I keep both enclosures and racks and I for one am excited to hear everyone's opinions and views on the subject be broadcasted live like they're (not just Brian) working towards doing.

My personal feelings about Brian don't even figure into my opinion, I simply think the discussion is a moot point. Breeders use racks and they work very well. Are they humane? Well, balls do well in them...and since we can't really gauge the mental health of an animal that is already doing well then I'd imagine that most people are going to keep on using them. I do know that ball pythons males are far more active in my experience and will often use every inch of a larger cage, and females are often stay close to the hide box.

Point is, this meeting isn't gonna change anything, breeders are gonna go with what works for them, and hobbiests are gonna listen to the experienced keepers... or the loudest mouthpiece... whichever they encounter first.

T, I'll start by saying heck yeah you should go and you have my support 100% to rep BP.net (but you HAVE TO wear the fanny pack, hahaha).
Not that my endorsement means anything from a BP.net perspective, but if I had a vote you'd get a green light from me.

Per your request, I'll keep my personal opinion on Brian to myself. But regardless I think it'll be a great experience and I'm sure some other influential faces in the industry will also be in attendance.

I'll be waiting patiently to hear about it and check out your vids. :gj::gj:
