Bulb shattering!

I've been pretty lucky with my bulbs so far (all IR heat bulbs) with none burning out or breaking yet. As others have mentioned, it could have been a defective bulb or may have gotten wet and shattered. I don't think a snake would be able to exert enough force to affect the bulb through the screen.

Sometime with bulbs that get hot any oils or foreign substance can boil on the surface causing it to burst. Might be it?? I always use gloves to touch bulbs. All my problems went away
