I can tell you that experienced keepers/breeders do not keep their animals together, now I can't tell you what to do those are YOUR animals, but I can tell you they are not cuddling they are competing over the same spot.

I’ve kept snakes together many years ago, in my early years of keeping snakes. What everyone else has mentioned is accurate, they compete for space and heat sources. If you commit to doing this, you also have to be exceptionally careful with feeding as not all snakes will go out of feed mode as quickly as others. There is always the risk of finding just one very fat snake in the cage. The only time I would house snakes together now is if I were planning to breed them.

Definitely separate, them going right for each other is just them going back to asserting dominance and vying for what their little snakey brains think of as limited resources.
