Putting the thermostat prob inside enclosure for heat pad is a bad idea. First you would need to put it under substrate. Snake can move it and give false readings causing it to over heat. Snake can urinate on it also csuding false readings.

As mentioned in another post, there is an increased risk with a probe inside on the cage floor due to inaccurate readings from urates or spilled water on the probe. While it can be done, many of us would not risk the potential burns that can result from lower than accurate readings.
