Got her to the vet. He was extremely rude, basically implied that he'd have to put her down. Took one look at her and just cussed. Kept ragging on my store even though it had nothing to do with this (I've had her for months, but he insisted we don't care for them and she had a parasite, which she doesn't).

However, he and two techs got her back in and stitched up
Heavy duty injected antibiotics prescription. Stitches and no food for at least two weeks. No handling for two days, then daily warm baths. So I guess, atrocious bedside manner aside, it was a positive outcome. I'm just happy this is going in Husbandry and not Rainbow Bridge, thank God.

OMG, what a lousy experience, even with the "positive" outcome...:O I just hope your 'baby' recovers well & FULLY (permanently) this time! :please::please::please:

So you work in the pet store you got her from? (sorry, I don't remember if that was ever mentioned)

I know from past experience that some very bright & talented doctors can have atrocious people-skills, here's hoping he's one of those?

Did he or his staff express an opinion as to what likely & specifically caused this? Like, what should your store do differently? And what
"parasite" was he referring to? You've had quite a day...:weirdface all for trying to save your snake...gee!

The tech said it was likely just a birth defect that she will hopefully outgrow. This store does very well- our supplier is reputable and we take supremely good care of our animals. It is PetSmart, which has a fairly good track record for that, but we're definitely a cut above at my location. We have no trouble dropping a thousand or more on veterinary care, and Nagini has no history of parasites.
