Re: Suddenly agressive Ball Python, needing suggestions
Thanks! I think she may be ready for a medium rat. Next time we have her out, we'll weigh her to see if she is over 1,000 grams, like the chart says.

I watched a bunch of videos on YouTube on how to feed F/T, so I feel a little more confident trying it. I am not ready to try freshly killed just yet. We have tried F/T before but it was in her feeding box, so I'm wondering if that's why she wouldn't take it. Maybe she associates the box with live feed.

If by "feeding box" you mean that you moved her to a separate feeding container, then yes...for many shy snakes, any such handling distracts from their feeding
response...it's stressful, & may cause food refusal entirely. For best results wait until evening, & preferably wait until your snake is peeking out from their hide box-
they are ambush-predators (ie. they like to feel safely hidden, & pounce on prey that's going by). Then if you thaw & briefly warm up the prey (to seem alive to
your snake) & only wiggle it slightly (using tongs), she is far more likely to grab it. This will no doubt be startling to you, so be ready to let loose of the prey when
your snake pounces ;)...you'll get the hang of it, & it's really fun to see our pets in action as they would be in the wild.
