Does he have a cool-side hide too? (he should have) I'd lower his temps a little...& for sure check the humidity. (<that could cause noisy breathing too)

He only has a hot hide.. He is in an enclosed rack at the moment. The tub is a FB10 with the built in cup so two hides isnt really a possibility..

Maybe that's why he wants out, then? Snakes need to feel secure, but not at the wrong temperature...his only option is warm side.

And also, IF he's going into shed soon, they usually only want the cool side then, and also a 'hide'...so that might explain it.

Okay, I lowered the herpstat 2 degrees. Again, I will let the temps stabilize and check them again before I go to sleep in a hr or two.. Hopefully I will find him curled up inside his house :-)

Any advice to determine whether he has an RI or is just fussy? (possibly because of temps).. should I just keep an eye on him?

Can't tell from here, obviously...already said what to check (is his breathing noisy when NOT being held & just laying flat? See any open mouth-breathing?
any bubbles around his mouth?) What's his humidity reading? too low can dry out his airway & also make him prone to RI. Yes, keep an eye on him...see
if he's going into shed also. (easy to see on the belly scutes, a tiny bit of a double edge...also, use a penlight in dark room across the arc of his eye caps,
you'll see the haze there first, usually) If he's going into shed, he'll probably need higher humidity (I say probably because I don't know what your reading is).

Okay, can I find that at big box petstore? Petco? I will get some this weekend..[/QUOTE]

No. I get it here: http://www.reptilebasics.com/F10SC-100ml

A little goes a long way. I use a spray bottle every month or two (32oz) and I have 8 tanks - most are big.

    I dilute between 1/250 and 1/500.

    So 3ml per 32oz (946ml) bottle.

Spray on and leave for 5-10 minutes depending on dilution and how much you want to make sure everything is disinfected.

I leave for ten minutes. Wipe up and you are done. DO NOT RINSE AFTER. It is reptile safe and makes a barrier between enclosure material and substrate to help keep new waste from seeping in.

I use printless newspaper so I use every time someone goes.

If you have other substrate, spot clean, and use when you clean out the enclosure monthly.
