I've always loved animals since i was small. i've petted snakes, but never really held on. so about 3 years ago, or 4, when i was in 8th grade, i think, i was hanging around petco. and one of the employees took out an RTB and let this little boy hold it. so i walked over, and they asked me if i wanted to hold it. i said sure. and the little rtb just coiled around my hands, it was so gentle. then instantly i was hooked

i was first interested in corns. because i found out that RTBs isnt exactly a small snake. my mom said no way. i knew she meant it. so, i soon gave up in ever havin a snake

i regained my interest around a year ago, when i saw a bp. i looked it up on the internet, and saw all those various morphs. so now i want to get a bp. but that will most likely happen, after i move out of my parent's house

I always thought the defense mechnism pictures of ball pythons (since they would show the snake all balled up) were cool. It was usually one of those things that would be mentioned in several of the science books when I was younger. In highschool, my anatomy teacher got one that was donated to the school by a student. Unforunately, (and probably due to lack of good information) it was stressed out (possibly had parasites as well, poor thing) and eventually died.

I held it a few times though, and thought snakes were generally pretty cool (more so than the few encounters I'd had with some of the bigger snakes being held by adults).

I didn't acutally pick up Issa (my first snake ever) until a year and 8 days ago. (lol, I bought my first snake a week before the tinley show...and then went to the tinley show as my first show). I'd seen a girl with a couple of ball pythons walking around in a park at a small event and noticed how calm they were and got a great sense of general behavoir.

I have 6 ball pythons now...some of them are morphs. (that doesn't include the rest of the snakes, the spiders, the scorpions and the crested gecko egg incubating....)

I blame Smulkin's pictures for getting me into tarantulas :P

We had an empty tank and would check out the herps at the pet store by me, and I just loved the look of the ball pythons. It took a year before I took the "plunge" and about three months of researching the care of balls before I purchased Kashmire.

Once I got Kashmire, I was head over heels in love! I can't wait to get my next one!

Oh, I remember falling in love with my BP very well. I was wearing my best open toed sandals, my favorite jeans and a top that shows just enough, but no more and he was wearing this really hot looking argyle sock with the toes cut out. He drove me in his 2004 red convertable Porshe 911 with a manual to the cutest bluff overlooking the ocean and he packed us a the most incredible picnic lunch you have ever seen. A lobster louis salad and a half bottle of Robert Mondavi 2004 Reserve Fume Blanc for me and a nice adult size mouse paired with a bowl of rain run-off for him. And it was there that I realized that I love this snake.

when i was quite young..six or seven my folks took me to bush garden in tampa fla. i saw that there was a belly dancing show with snakes called serpentina or something like that, and i squeeled and jumped up and down until i got a yes. there was a beautiful woman belly dancing with different snakes and show casing them while an anouncer spoke about the snakes.she wandered amongst the isles terrifying or illiciting nervous smiles. i was hypnotized beyond reproach when she came over to me and encouraged me to touch one. i slowly reached out testing the silky, shimmering skin.there is something so mysterious and cool about reptiles. iguess it is their ancient ancestry. anyhow..i have not been the same since. i was always catching them on our farm freaking my mother out. i have always gone to zoos and serptariums whenever possible. i have had friends with many snakes and other herps. in june i joined the herptological society and went to a meeting for fun. they had a baby with a broken neck up for adoption. he looked at me with his big eyes, wrapped around my wrist and the rest is history. i already have another rescue. they are both getting healthy and awefully damn cute. i look foward to keeping as many rescues as possible. i've got a soft spot for the orphans.
