Re: Everglades: Burm Eats Gator
The video clip is going into my lesson plans for tomorrow. We're smack into the Ecology unit and have been discussing non native species wreaking havoc on their introduced ecosystems. Great point to make to the kids, be RESPONSIBLE pet owners! Do your research and buy later. :)

A friend of mine left a message on my machine; she'd bought 2 baby red ear slider turtles @ some garage sale she went to w/her daughter, & didn't realize that they'd be so much work. She asked me if I could take them (which I couldn't have). (She got extremely lucky; a friend of her ex's took them.)
I talked w/her online 2 nights ago, & gave her my "No impulse buying, especially when it comes to animals!" lecture. I gave her my own example; I did research for months before purchasing my ball python, as I felt that it's the responsible thing to do. I think she got the point. ;)

Re: Everglades: Burm Eats Gator
I saw this in the news the other day. So pet owners have been dumping burms in the eva glades. Hmm I wonder if we might see a floridian burmese python. just a thought
