Do you have room, can you afford another snake, the time it may take to look after it because if the poorly mistreatment it may already have had in life?? If you can honestly say yeah to all of these then go for it. I would. And probably a load of other people on this forum would agree with me.

I can't stand pet shops not looking after there pets when they are suppose to be some what experts in them. I understand not all pet shops are the same as in some may be more qualified but if you don't know what your doing then don't sell them or at leather someone with a hell of a lot more experience.

Anyway I can rant on for pages and pages, but it's your choice, if you do then your be a hero, not like the snake may realized that but you will and if you can't, then you shouldn't feel bad either especially if it's down to home circumstances.

Do what you think is best for you and the hiss and Sid. [emoji216]

Petsmart estimated value ....$7 billion (privately held)

Petco estimated value ...$4.6 billion (purchssed in 2015 by CVC Capital Partners and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board ).....talk about an odd investor into the world of pet supplies :rolleye2:

Apparently it pays to be in the pet supplies world, not so much the breeding world however. Elon Muskwould have to spend roughly half of his net worth to purchase both!

This little snake was gnawing at my conscience, so I told my husband I was getting him, and I'm happy I did. The bottom line for me is that I helped this particular animal. And boy, did he need it. :(

I ended up getting a larger setup for Sunny and this little guy for ten bucks, so win-win. :) It took some Shed Ease, soaking, and several runs through a damp towel to get his shed off. It was worse than I thought, but I managed to get almost all of it off. Just a bit on the tip of his nose and under his chin left.

And he's so calm! Definitely an awesome temperament so far. Still need a name...

Below are some photos. The first 2 are before, but it might be hard to tell how bad he looked. The last 4 are after. He's currently exploring his new home. :)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b92dfc8a63.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b3a650590e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...be9e8e5b1e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4f6ca6f878.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c73ee8fdbc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9eb8f9ce1c.jpg

They are offering a promotion on BP's where if you purchase a 40g setup, you'd get the snake for $10. A bit sketchy in my opinion, but we do need to keep upgrading our tanks, so I was considering getting a larger tank for one of our bigger BP's and using the freed up cage for the little guy for now...

Space, time, money, food, etc. isn't an issue. UGH. This is normally why I don't ask my husband about helping out animals and just do it.

It's tough. I hate even buying dog food from the big box stores. I got one of my rescue dogs, Banning, from an adoption event at one of those stores (when he was 9 months old and had been thrown out of car down south after being abused and neglected for months). He's awesome and I saved him from a kill shelter. He's been with me 10 years now. I am glad the chain stores do things like that, even if it's so they sell more supplies by letting ASPCA set up a tent in their parking lot.

I agree with a lot of what's been said here.

Buying = Reward $$$$$$$$ money for them. They will just replace that poor snake with another.

Another potentially big issue is that you have know idea what ailments/problems/illnesses that snake might have or spread to the rest of your collection.

Quarantine is a must regardless of who you get a snake from, but a situation like that is begging for air-tight quarantine and vet visits. You'll spend more in a month of either treating the poor animal, or ensuring you got lucky, then you can imagine. Might as well get your dream snake at that point.

I also wish breeders wouldn't sell to these stores. Not good.

Finally, you have to draw a line somewhere. You cannot save every animal out there. I wish I could adopt every neglected dog, but I have 5 dogs! Katie had 3 and I had 2 and we moved in together. It's so hard knowing there are so many animals that need homes, but you can only do what you can do.

    Bottom line:

I am glad you chose to stay away. Not worth risking your current collection, not worth supporting the box store, and the risks are very high that you have issues and who knows what happens to the snake.

However, I understand the heartbreak and torment you feel. Good people who take good care of their animals (dog, cat, reptile, etc) want to be able to save them all. It's tough knowing we have limitations.

Literally posted the above and then saw you got him.

Okay, I am choosing to leave what I said above for others and I stand by it.

I am glad you are going to give the little guy a good home.

PLEASE quarantine like your life depends on it. His life and the lives of your other reptiles just might.

Let us know if you have any quarantine questions, or any other questions for that matter, and please keep us in the loop on the little guy.

Wishing you and him the best and that he has a wonderful life with you.

well, we said our peace, you weighed your options, and now that noodle is going to have the best life they'll ever know. [emoji4] congrats on your new addition, tho i can't say i would have done the same.

they're already looking much better! but please please follow a strict QT; big box stores are known for their snakes having many nasty health issues.

again, congrats. [emoji3] that's a nice reduced pattern!

He looks (& I'm sure, FEELS!) SO much better already, OMG! Beautiful color, hope there's no issues that your TLC can't easily fix. :gj:

We can't win them all, sadly...but with heart, we can make a huge difference for some.

And those of you breeding snakes, PLEASE don't be part of the problem by breeding too many & selling cheaply to retailers that do this!

Well I followed the whole thing, and I’ll say this much. He’s quite the looker. Congratulations, and best of luck. The heart does was the heart wants. And it’s kinda hard to fault you, I can think of so many worse things done[emoji6]
