Right now we have a tiny okeetee corn snake that is just a little jerk. She gets so defensive if you stick your hand in there. She puffs up, rattles her little tail, says mean things about your mother, and strikes. She will hopefully grow out of it. The adult we have has the personality of Winnie the pooh, he just seems like a big goof.

Aside from that almost every snake I have owned has been pretty mellow, even my rainbow boas.

my Coffee Bean (Super Cinnamon) came to me as a feisty 90g noodle. within 24 hrs of being home, she was striking the side of her 32qt tub like crazy and never seemed to relax. i decided to move her into a 12qt and just try and stuff her face; she ate within 48 hrs of being home!

as she grew, she seemed to become more and more defensive around me, but she ate real good! handling with her was a 0/10: she would just sit there waiting for me to get close enough for her to eat; she literally would not move from her S pose. she was the first snake i ever got bit by when she was just ~170g; i went to pick her up and she whipped around and got me. she remained defensive up until ~350g.

over time, with short and frequent handling, she tamed out, and she's tamed out really well! i can touch her head and guide her wherever i need her to be. she's still the only snake i don't allow others to hold tho lol. ;)

    EDIT: obligatory photo

I've had many corn snakes, bred Okeetees, & still have 5 (various) corn snakes: your tiny one sounds normal, considering that so many birds would just think "worm!"
& gulp him down. Some hatchling corns are mellow but they'd probably not survive for long in the wild, so just think of yours as a survivor! And just be patient, she'll
more than likely out-grow it just fine, corns are awesome pets, easy to feed & easy to handle. BTW, have you noticed that even if your hatchling corn "bites" you, you
can't even feel their teeth!? they're too small to even break the skin, hahahaha!

Try to imagine being so tiny and confronted with GIANT HUMANS & your instincts say that which picks you up is a PREDATOR :O -that's where she's coming from, she's
definitely not a "jerk", she just wants to live a while.

My okeetee did that if I gave him time to see me coming. If I picked him up smoothly straight after lifting his hide, he would usually do the zoom and flee for a minute and settle down. Took longer the smaller he was, but never too long. The only time he did the "rawr, fear me" act was once when I hesitated seeing him in blue the first time (@ 8 grams). He kind of just bounced off a fingernail the only strike he tried that even touched me, as blind as he was.

I managed to get a picture of it. So scary.
