Re: Added lighting causing too much heat in AP T8
I think I read that they dont work with these ballasts at all, for led or florescent. I think the cheaper route will be to use the rubbery LED strips like my leopard gecko has. I know they dont put off any measurable amount of heat in a smaller PVC cage maintaining similar temps, so that is what my plan is now.
I did turn off the lights in the colubrids and just left the warm side one on for the BPs and the temps are stable and in a good range now, until I can get the others and install them.
Should be able to do 1 cage with the test set I ordered this weekend. (Didn't want to accidentally get a bad vendor from Amazon.. these strips seem to be notorious for bad vendors from what reviews say) if this set is good, I'll order and do the rest next weekend.
I think I'll just repurpose the ones I have. Maybe mount some lights in the garage.... hmm..

Got the new lights in. They're not quite as bright as I had thought, but plenty to do day/night cycle and to see into the tanks pretty clearly. The white is slightly blue, but for $8.50 with prime shipping, I'll take it. The 1 meter length is pretty much perfect since there is a connector you can use to reach out of the cage and have the lights centered.
Haven't added back their pvc cross bar branches yet. Just need to hot glue in the holders, but haven't done that yet.
