I use the RBI, heat panels, haven’t had any problems. I also get my Flexwatt from them, and wire it up ourselves with zip cord and plugs from the hardware store, and leatherworking double-cap rivets for the connections.

yes, this + some insulating tape is what I used on the hognose viv. flex watt is what I would do if it wasn't an exposed side of the tank. I think rhp it is. well I know it is the weekend but I have messaged pro products with the details. thank you all for your help.

    FWIW, I'm a long-time Flexwatt user too.

I dont really see any issues with RBI RHPs except they use an ABS plastic body where as Pro Products uses an aluminum body. I have heard a few issues with RBI RHPs giving up the ghost after a couple weeks though but i personally think it's user error as in they were mounted too close and overheated. Remember, you have to have at least a 6 inch air gap between them and the object below them or they could overheat.

I personally prefer Pro Products though and will be ordering one and having it shipped to AP next month for Pats cage.

Currently, I don’t use either. I have a roof de-icing cable from a big box store and run the single length cable along 1/3 of the underside of the tubs and loop back to the backside for radiant heat ... all on a single thermostat. Am I going to get excommunicated? Temps are all fine. I also use digital hygrometers and thermometers in each tub to make sure each one is good ... maybe overkill but I prefer to know min/max for both temps and humidity for each tub and just add a bigger water dish to increase humidity for those going into shed.

Not by me, lol...more than one way to do things. What counts is the results...and safety.

Spechal, you macguyver son of a gun, you. that is a pretty genius idea. I imagine it has all the same safety precautions, if not more, than the average uth??

The thermostat is key. Due to the length of the cable, it will max at 300W. It’s also big enough that if I hadn’t run it as a “UTH” and “RHP” I could run two racks (side by side) from it as just “UTH”. It’s a 60’ cable.
