Almost all of my balls went on their first big fast in their second year. 1000 grams is about what they usually are in that age range which is why 1000 gram wall is labeled so. In general, males will fast longer and earlier than females but there are exceptions. Longest fasts: I had a male fast for 12 months in this phase and a female for 7 months. There are no rules here just the in general. I have not had one that did not fast at some point. My collection maxed out at 35 adults before I opted out but many more ran through during so I would say this opinion is based on around 50 adult ball pythons over a time period of about 10 years.
