This Wood Good?

I used something similar years ago, not sure of the wood, but it was also for birds. It ended up developing mold in just a few weeks. That was years ago when I was, well, less responsible than I am today. So unfortunately don't have a clue what wood it was, just figured I'd mention that so you can keep an eye on it if you try it.

Yep... looks and feels super smooth. Though, it is rather thin for a ball python. Good for her now, and probably good long term for the king snake. My routine is a monthly deep clean of the enclosures. So, as with the other items in there, will do a careful inspection of the wood then.

Which, since we're on the topic, does anyone actually "clean" real wood inside their enclosures? I currently do not, although I do spot clean if anything is on there (which there never has been so far). And, if you do clean the wood, to what extent do you do so?

I throw my branches in the oven each time I do a thorough cleaning. I put them in for an hour or so on 250.
