    I strongly recommend getting an IR temp gun to measure the ground temperature in your tank. You can buy them on Amazon, or pick one up at Home Depot / Lowes. This will help dial in the thermostat once you get it, and you can monitor the surface temperature anywhere in your tank. I frequently spot check the hot side, right under the heat lamp; far end of the cool side; and as close to the hide that my bp is currently in as I can get.
