Interesting, I use the thin (4 mil) translucent plastic used for paint drop cloths and it seems to do ok. Most of my windows are well-insulated and don't leak but there is one oddball in the kitchen that lets cold air just pour into the house if I don't seal it up.

When I've tried to use the thin stuff it seems to get damp and colder, while the super thick stuff works way better. Maybe it's our high humidity? I mean, it will block air movement, so it works in that way but I just felt it way colder next to the thin plastic rather than the thicker heavy stuff.

That could be it. I was just trying to cut off drafts. I would love more humidity this time of year but that's not happening unless I take steps.

I need to add a humidifier. My snake room is 20x15. Any suggestions on which one to get? I also need some hygrometers; people have recommended Accurite... but there are several models and I want real accuracy, not just “good accuracy for the price” since I’d think that would not be very much accuracy with an $8 instrument...

Yes it will. Light cycles are significant environmental triggers for many species, especially blood/short-tailed pythons. Look into LED as an option for ambient lighting, as it's much cheaper to operate long-term.
