Is Misting Harmful?

I use a pump up sprayer and tap water warmed to my ambient temp which is 81F - 82F. I live in a very dry climate and have to spray most tubs every day to keep the humidity up. A lot of times I'll spray the snake directly especially if they are going in shed, but I'll avoid spraying the face / head so they don't breath in water. I would think you want to avoid little or no air circulation in the tubs to the point where it keeps the humidity high all the time, I think a good wet / dry cycle every few days is important to keep fungus and bacteria at bay.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I probably should've mentioned, I do use a mix of Eco Earth and Coco Husk, I try not to soak it, and I always wait til she's in her hide to do it so there's no direct contact. Savora- I know about YASMB, I follow the blog of one of the mods on there who definitely knows her stuff :) In the future I'll definitely have to remember not to use cold water to mist though.

The Ball Python Enthusiast FB group is absolutely terrible, IMO. Everybody was so mean to each other, and everybody's opinions were so extreme. I understand wanting the best for reptiles and being exhausted from inexperienced owners making common mistakes, but some stuff is just overwhelmingly unnecessary: 1. misting gives your snakes an RI; 2. coco fiber suffocates your snake; 3. if you aren't using a tub/rack system then your snake is probably already dead. I have no issue with people who prefer specific methods of BP keeping, but to preach it as The Only Way is insufferable.

Not to promote this group or anything, but the FB group "you ain't seen my balls" is a lot more tolerable. Aside from that, I tend to be in herp groups that are more all-encompassing (not species-specific) and research-based. I love learning about herps.

couldn't agree more, that group is a little aggressive.
