Re: PETA - 5 Reasons To Never Buy A Snake???
Okay, a few rejections:
1. How could PETA protest against snakes in captivity, when they barely know anything about these snakes? They mentioned that snakes eat CRICKETS, which is completely untrue. They also said that snakes "suffer" in captivity since we keep them in such small spaces, though in the wild they don't need that much space as most/all snakes are ambush hunters, which means they hide and wait for prey.
2. I don't know if PETA actually did research or not, but I would've appreciated it if they linked the study that stated the huge number of dead pets. There was no mentioning of the actual study they got that info from. Makes me suspicious...
3. If all of mankind were to agree and conform to the logic of PETA in general, not just the post being discussed, none of us would be alive. Let me elaborate.
So, we shouldn't eat any kind of meat because they come from live animals that die. So we can eat meat from animals that are already dead right? NOPE. That meat could be the staple diet of an entire species of scavengers and carcass-eaters. So what about plants? Nope, they're food for animals in the wild such as cows, pigs, goats, horses, etc. Can we at least drink water? No, fish live in water, and who are we to make part of an animal's home disappear?
Sorry for the rant, just wanted to point out that PETA is just a name for people that use animals for attention. I guarantee that at least one of the central staff of PETA has a pet, be it a dog, cat, parrot, or whatever else that should be thriving in the wild.

Garter snakes don't eat insects. They aren't meant to digest exoskeletons. They do eat some invertebrates like worms and slugs. The smooth green snake is one that actually does eat insects. The queen snake interestingly enough only eats crayfish that have recently shed. The theory is that they track the hormones to find them, but that's not known right now I believe. Queen snake populations are suffering with more polluted waters.

No, but the cat messed with it for awhile probably. Snake seems kind of sluggish at first. But when I took him into the woods and set him down into a grassy spot, he was gone in the blink of an eye [emoji6]
