I'd venture to say a 10' male retic is almost certainly not a pure SD, especially not a pure Kalatoa. Everyone I've talked to with pure SD males have said theirs maxed out at 6-7' tops.

Nice light baby! Yeah it's surprising how big of a prey item they can eat isn't it? Retics grow fast, temperaments vary.

I posted some photos of our plat 50% SD in this thread: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...dom-Retic-Pics
I'd estimate her to be about 12' or so, maybe a little longer. She's still got some growing to do but it will mostly be girth at this point. Males will generally be a little smaller and not quite as girthy (generally!).

Plats grow up to be so beautiful, one of my favorite color morphs.
Good luck with your little one!

I own ball pythons right now..

Ahh gotcha. 50% male SD should stay manageable size. Being 50% mainland blood still offers potential for some growth but not too crazy provided you don't slam him with food too hard. Not sure how accurate Bob's sizes are on his animals though. When I was asking him about my Ultra before I got him, he said he was probably 30"? Was definitely closer to 3.5-4', not 30" haha. Makes me curious how big the parents actually are. 11' mom could have been 9-10', 6' dad could have been 7-8'? Who knows... What I do know is that at 19 months old, my male 50% SD is maybe 6'. I don't see him getting much more than 7-8' tops though. Seems to be putting on more weight than length anymore.

How would you feed him to keep him happy but not grow insanely fast or get super BIG

Not to sound like a jerk, but a lot of these are questions that should have been asked before acquiring a "larger" snake like a retic. Having said that, retics can take a substantially larger meal than other snakes. Not that they need to all the time but they can and will take larger prey more frequently than a ball python. You will also be astonished at the speed of their metabolism. You can give them a meal close to 1.5x their widest girth and their food lump will be gone in 3-4 days. My 8.5' Kalatoa SD girl eats an xxl rat once a week and is pacing the cage looking for more by the 5th and 6th day. She's getting bumped up to xxxl rats in a couple more feedings with a 4xl quinea pig here and there to keep her content. She's got a progression thread on here Kalatoa 100% Pure SD Retic Progression (Pic heavy...) as well as my ultra ivory boy (Gerald Super Dwarf Ultra Ivory Retic Progression). Phyllis's thread is kinda long at this point but I've tried to keep it fairly updated with her progress over the last couple years.

Just have to try different approaches and see what works best for you and the snake. Some will totally destroy their faces from pushing if not fed enough, others are totally fine. I'd start with a weekly feeding schedule feeding a prey item about the thickness of the snake, maybe a little bigger, and observe his behaviors. Both of mine are climbing the walls and smashing their faces at the doors by day 6 or so. Other folks say theirs do fine on a 10 day schedule. To some degree you just have to listen to what the snake tells you it wants/needs. I'd keep it on rat pups if that's what it was eating at Bob's place.

I don't believe you sound like a jerk and I'm not really sure on the dwarf super dwarf compared to Mainland either way I'm fully capable of taking care of this animal and providing for his needs just a little insight that's all I'm searching for experiences from people that actually own this island Locale mainly

Right on, yeah I'd start with weekly feedings and see how things go. Just don't slam him with food too hard and he should grow at a comfortable healthy rate without getting massive. I'm still astonished at how small Gerald is being almost 2 years old and 50% Thailand mainland retic.
