You really can't beat a carpet python imo. They're beautiful display snakes but also fun to handle. The husbandry is very similar to a BP and they come in a variety of sizes and colors. They're definitely my favorite species to work with.I think every snake keeper needs at one carpet in the collection. :)

A boa! Specifically a smaller locality or a normal BCI male (usually stay around 6'). Boas are easy keepers, good feeders, and usually have good personalities, but require bigger housing, and thus, make a good second snake.

I actually got my first boa before my first BP. I LOVE my boas and actually enjoy handling them far more than my BPs. None have a bad personality or are defensive and they are all curious and like to climb and explore while out.

Yeah, that's what I did. And Carpets aren't even hard to really care for. They are great snakes!

you should get a boa because they are lots of fun and are a bigger species than ball pythons but still not as big or as expensive to care for as a true giant like a retic or burm.

I love both of mine so much. they are the perfect snake to just chill with because they are active enough to be fun but not so much that they will tire you out like a really flighty Retic would. Plus a manageable size of 5-7 or so feet they can be easily handled by one person with ease.
