Something additional to look into for the original price is that the animal may be het for a recessive gene. For example the animal may be carrying one albino gene where two are required for it to be seen on the animal. If the animal is het for albino and it is bred to a full albino 50% of the babies would appear albino while the other 50% would appear normal but be carrying the albino gene. There are many recessive genes. You may want to ask the original owner if you can.

Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of snake keeping!!

Looks like a normal to me. Definitely deep in shed though. I would suggest bumping your humidity to 65-70% and just leave your snake alone to adjust and properly shed.

Just remember when in shed try not to disturb him because it could stress him out. Gorgeous python! Congrats on your new forever friend! I'm new to the board and have been visiting a lot and this is a great place for info!

    Thank you!

Yes actually I researched blue eyes after I took that photo and realized he was in shed, which I didn't know about. I immediately put him back, and a few days later (earlier ha) he shed without an issue!

If you're not going to breed, it doesn't matter what genes he has. With that high of a price, if he is het for something(carrying recessive genes for a morph) then it would be either multiple morphs, or a new rare morph. Otherwise I can't think of why a breeder would charge that much for a male.

As long as he's happy and healthy, it doesn't matter what hidden genes he has since you're not going to breed him. He's a lovely normal looking ball. Enjoy him.

Well put! All I want is for
Him to live healthy and happy in a ball.
