Not excessively big. Trust me. I have my 7' male super dwarf in an AP T25 6x3x18 with a 10" shelf across the back of the cage and depending if he cracks the 10' mark, i might need to upgrade him to an AP T65 8x3x18 cage. Heres his cage, he's the one on top and a pic of him relaxing in the cage.

Re: New/first reticulated python.
I think I'll just go easy on feeding him and keep him in the one I custom built.

Sometimes its not your decision haha. Ask JMCrook about Phyllis haha. His female and my male pretty much set their own schedule. If not fed when they want food, they both just destroy their faces. Caesar split his lip, scuffed up his chin multiple places and messed up a belly scale when I tried to make him wait 14 days for food. It was an experiment and it ended bad. I had to keep him heavily fed for a couple weeks until his scrapes and split lip healed up. And I just checked his belly scale today and it looks fine now too.
Now you might get lucky and get one like Gio and Stern have which aren't so food driven or you might get ones like JMCrook and I have lol.
Retics are pretty darn smart and definitely a different ball game from other snakes. You kind of have to work on their terms and they just kind of accept your terms...sometimes.

Did you get yours custom made and add half a foot?

No you're right, i just call it 3' deep since the 10" shelf adds more floor space. I mean technically, its more than 3' deep if add the 10" deep shelf along with the 30" floor depth since the shelf extends the whole length of the cage.

Aaah got it.
I Tried to see if they'd give me the T-25 with 24" of ceiling for a little more $$ but Ali said she'd have to charge me for the next cage size. I thought you swung a special deal.
The O/P's cage looks great!
