Thank you so much. It truly is a blessing to be able to spend the day with 3 generations of Frechette fathers and to be able to have my niece there as the 4th generation is awesome too.

No doubt, definitely the real deal. They are called The Greatest Generation for a reason. My grandparents did the drive from MA to FL every winter as well. They would wait until the day after Christmas to leave so they could spend the holiday with the family and come back April 1st. They stopped going about 8 years ago when my grandmother started to "age" at 85 years old, hahahaha. Memere passed 6 years ago this month, but Pepere is still pretty solid. He actually just stopped driving 3 years ago.

Glad to hear that the book is doing well. I remember a previous thread of yours telling about your Grandfather finally telling about his involvement in the War.

Yup, no doubt very special.

The man is my hero. He saw so much that no man should ever have to see, as most of them did. And like most, he just kept it all locked up inside for many, many years. I think he's finally come to accept that what he did was, in fact, something to be proud of. I know he wouldn't agree with me, but I call it heroic. I also think many of them are realizing that the world needs to hear their stories, it's history that changed the world forever. I think many hope that sharing the horror stories they lived through might help to open people's eyes in hopes of preventing a WWIII.

He is looking good. Learn from him while he is still here. My grandfather lived till he was just shy of 100. He talked little about the war. I found out far more about his involvement after he died. There were boxes and boxes of stuff left to me from the war that I had never seen while he was alive.

That's totally awesome Craig! There's nothing like a close knit family. Your niece is a princess and your Grandpa is a hero! The country and the world will always owe our gratitude to those who served during that time.
