Re: Summer is almost here, temps are changing.
I get that they would probably work very well, but I cant honesty justify that price that when tstats like the one I posted probably work just fine. I'm not a breeder or collector I'm just an average joe with a BP.
Looking at some reviews these tstats seem to work just fine. But what I originally was asking is if the new UTH temps 77-79 aren't too low temporarily until I get a tstat.
Re: Summer is almost here, temps are changing.
As long as they are fine then I'm okay with it for now. I'll look into getting a tstat even if it is one of the Amazon ones.
And I'm pretty sure she's not gonna get burned. I always make sure the UTH never goes past 90.
Also I was told the UTH is more important than the lamp. Since snakes (or BPS specifically) don't bask and belly heat is prefered choice. Honestly everytime I ask something to anyone I get a lot of conflicting answers.

They don't bask, normally. Though they don't bask it is absolutely possible to have a red lamp over a hide to create a warm hide while keeping the air temp correct. I've done it many times. With a lamp and lamp stand or dimmer it is easy to dial in. I've even done it while the snake was in a tub.
Many large breeders do not offer belly heat and have thriving collections. If belly heat was so important don't you think the breeders would all provide it? Fact is, a snake really just needs proper ambient temps and proper humidity. I consider belly heat a luxury item that I provide because I want to and not because they need it. Most of my snakes hardly ever use it and they are all doing great.
Re: Summer is almost here, temps are changing.
So I suppose as long as her ambient temps and humidity stay at decent levels it'll be fine? I'll never let any temp drop below 70 or go above 90. That much I know.
And I guess it does make sense that inside her hide its probably a warmer temp because of the small space.
I just always was kinda confused about how people will tell me to buy this and that when you see breeders who just keep snakes in a plastic tub in stacks with no lamp or humidity control and they live just fine. Cause this isn't a hobby for me, this is just a pet that I care for and have around.

A think a pet is a hobby. No matter the animal or the amount.
Most breeders will have a humidity system for the room as well as heat.
Another piece of kit that can be bought cheap on Amazon is a IR temp gun. This would allow you to easily check all the surface temps so you more accurately know what temps you are providing your snake. Many times you will see a probe thermometer are not very accurate when using them to monitor surface temps. Nothing fancy and under $20.

cheaper than vet bills and much better than a dead snake or a house fire
