Just got this little fellow wondering what kind he was.

I'm in Southern California so there is almost no humidity. I have a thermostat on the cool side which stays around 82. He doesn't seem to like the hide much. Havent seen him in it. He stays in the cool corner on the heating pad. What's a good way to regulate the humidity since im in a dry environment? The store where I got him from fed him frozen fuzzies should I keep him on the or something different?

Thank you for that. Looks like I have some shopping to do today. The pad stays between 80-85. Well that's what the box said. I was thinking about putting some things for him to climb on any recommendations? From what i read they aren't climbers but he has a thing for going up and down my arm. Either he likes climbing or he's plotting lol.

Keep him on frozen if you can, it's a lot easier for a lot of people. You'll eventually increase the prey size as he grows. And even if the box says it stays at a certain range, always keep your heat source on a thermostat. I've seen pictures of some seriously nasty burns.

Thank you for the links! It's an UTH and with the aspen bedding it doesn't get exseively hot. I check it everyday to make sure, but ill definitely get a thermostat for it. Reading that article I figured out why he doesnt go in his hide. Its a half log. There was a sticker on the outside of the tank when i first bought it that i noticed he like to get behind. Might tape off a section of the tank so he feels more secure. Thank you for your help!

You check it with what?
Anything over 95 degrees is too hot.
A no contact temp gun is a great investment.
Should be taking temps under the substrate.

The back of my hand. I know it's not precise but like i said it stays warm but not hot. Just bought a red light to get rid of the white light. As well as a thermo-hygrometer and thermostat and timer plugs and some new hides for him. Was loking for some thing for him to climb on but might go to another store to get him some and some leaves too.
