I have my BP in a 24X18x12in exo terra terrarium. I have a UTH heater on the hot side. Its on a zoomed thermostat. I tried using just the UTH heater, but my temps weren't going over like 73f(checked with a infrared heat gun). So, I added a 75W blue night time heat light. This got my warm side to 90-95(depending on if my room is on the warm or cool side). that got my warm side to a satisfactory level, but then my cold side was always low 70s. So, I got another 75W blue night light and put it in a housing with a dimmer and its barely on. This keeps my cool side in the mid 70s. I guess I understand getting away with just UTH heaters if you use a tub, but I dunno if its doable in a glass terrarium, unless im doing something completely wrong.

    Re: Misting systems - Yes/No ?
I use snake racks and they work great! If you have an aquarium it's going to be a lot harder to keep the humidity up and your going to have to mist a lot more than once a day! Before I got my snake racks though I had tubs and I had to play with how many holes to put in the tubs to keep humidity low or high! Some holes had to be covered with tape to keep humidity up lol But having to spray a cage more than once a day is usually a sign you need to mess with your cage or tub and get the humidity right not spray it more! :)

I may have gone a bit overboard with mine but it works pretty well - I bought a humidifier with a 2 gallon reservoir, DIYed a spout from some plastic tubing I got from the hardware store, and set it up to mist directly into the tub. I've got a screen lid and a CHE that was drying out the interior way too fast, and simply covering the screen with foil didn't work for me, but I don't have to refill the humidifier more than once a week, and I can fine-tune the mist volume quite well.

Okay, a couple clarifying questions. How are you taking the readings for your temps? You should be checking the hot spot with a temp gun at the surface of the glass if you are heating with a UTH. Even if the substrate over top reads cooler, the snake can, and will, push it out of the way if they want more heat. What kind of substrate are you using currently?

I would personally set the T-Stat for the UTH so it reads 92 - 95 at the surface of the glass only. Then dump the blue night lights, because for whatever reason lightbulbs will ALWAYS sap moisture. Get yourself a CHE for ambients instead. You should only need to use one on a dimmer. Cover the rest of the screen top in cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil; this with reflect both heat and humidity back into the enclosure. You can also better insulate the glass to keep heat in by wrapping the whole thing in a towel or blanket.
