Here is what I'd suggest: Don't cover more than 1/3rd the base of the tub with the heat mat. I'd suggest covering 1/4 to 1/5 the length of the base of the tub and inset it slightly.
I just wanted to be clear. This tub is acting as a hide right? Something the snake will be able to come and go from as it pleases? If that's the case you could probably get away with a little more coverage on the UTH. With such a large tank and such large hides I would suggest placing a smaller hide within the hide, just so your snake will feel more secure. Especially if he / she starts to refuse food. Is your snake a ball python?

Yes I'll be using the tub as a hide, something for her to come and go as she pleases. So then I should go with a large heating pad on the bottom then add a smaller tub. Because was I was going to do is add some substrate to that hide but yeah it does make sense to do that also. Oh I don't feed her in the tank I've been told from others it came make then aggressive and all of this stuff and yes she's a ball python.

Sorry yes I'm going to buy another hide that is the exact same as her current hide I have on her hot side of the tank.

Just be sure she also has a cool hide to retreat to and I think you'll be fine. Snakes will choose hiding over proper temperature if given no other choice. As Oxylepy stated earlier. You MUST have a thermostat to regulate the temps or your snake could and most likely would burn herself. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e1d132edf1.jpg

Yikes.... Yeah I know about that and I'll make sure to add a cool side also. Thank you and Oxylepy for the information you've both given me

No problem. That's my favorite thing about this forum. Everyone is here to help if they can. I know I've learned a lot from other users on here.
